Army serial number 34-355-687. Born; Cairo, Georgia. Taken Prisoner of War by German forces in 1944. Was flight engineer on B-17 bomber, on 8th bombing mission was shot down while on mission to bomb an ammunition dump near Vienna, Austria. Imprisoned July 8, 1944, Stalag Luft 4, Gross-Tychow. Moved to Wobbelin Bei Ludwigslust. Liberated May 2, 1945. Graduate of Cairo High School Class of 1933. Served as clerk, Cairo Post Office for 17 years, until appointed as postmaster. Brother of MM 3 Maurice Gerald Allen US Navy. Burial; Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, Georgia.
