Four years submarine service US Navy during World War II. USS Paddle (SS-263) sank the Japanese ship Shinyo Maru which was loaded with about 800 American POWS. Eighty survivors were able to swim to a nearby Island and were rescued by another American submarine. Enlisted in US Army after World War II and retired at Fort Bliss, Texas. Burial; Section O, Site 718, Fort Bliss National Cemetery, El Paso, Texas.
