Notes
Born; Whigham, Grady County, Georgia. Maxwell had orders to report to the USS Mt. Hood (AE-11) for duty. He was a bit late, missed the ship, and watched as the Hood sailed out of Pearl Harbor. The ship blew up (November 19, 1944) killing everyone on board. If he had arrived at Pearl Harbor one hour before he did, most likely he would have been aboard the Hood when it exploded. Worked for Roddenbery Hardware in Cairo. Burial; Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, Georgia.
