US Army service number 34-760-255. Born; Calvary, Grady County, Georgia. Graduate Cairo High School Class of 1942. With Hubert assigned to the 97th Infantry Division were Sergeant First Class Joseph Horry Rawls And Private First Class Raymond Miller both from Grady County. The 97th Division is credited with "The Last Shot of the European War". PFC Domenic Mozzetta of Company B, 387 Infantry Regiment, 97th Infantry Division fired at a German sniper near Klenovice, Czechoslovakia, shortly before midnight May 7, 1945. (Monument dedicated October 12, 2000, Fort Benning, Georgia). The 97th Infantry Division was one of only 2 divisions to serve in both the European and the Pacific Theaters of war.
