Graduated Whigham High School; University of Georgia with degree in Journalism. Wrote the long running column "The Live Oak Tree" (Cairo Messenger). Was one of the founders of the Whigham Rattlesnake Roundup. Brother of Private James Roby Newberry US Army. Louie Hughes (The Triangle) gave a war bond to Julius for being the first from Grady County to kill a Japanese soldier. Burial; Spring Hill United Methodist Cemetery, Whigham, Grady County, Georgia.
