Employed as a printer for the Cairo Messenger until elected as Ordinary (probate judge) in 1940 election. Assumed duties as Ordinary, January 1, 1941. Father of CWO John B. Willis US Navy and RM3 Mack Ellis Willis US Navy. Ebb was exposed to poison gas during the war which left him with damaged lungs, which may have contributed to his death. Burial; Cairo Cemetery, Cairo, Georgia.
