US Navy service number 483-587. Born; Cairo, Georgia. Graduated Cairo High School 1943. Commissioned June 19, 1946. Home of record; 26 3rd Ave., Cairo, Georgia. He was a graduate of Erskine College and received his Masters Degree from the University of Georgia. He was head football coach at Liberty High School, Easley High School and Spartanburg High School. He served as Mayor of Easley, South Carolina from 1983 to 1999. He was on the Board of Directors of Peoples National Bank. He was National High School Coach of the Year (1978). Received the Order of the Palmetto (1978) and was inducted into the South Carolina Coaches Athletic Hall of Fame (1994). He is also in the Easley High School Athletic Hall of Fame as well as the City of Easley Civic Hall of Fame. In 1999 he received the Silver Crescent. Burial; West View Cemetery, Liberty, Pickens County, South Carolina.
