Captain Roy Hamilton Hall, Jr. USAAC and US Air Force. Enlisted in the Army Aviation Cadet Program in May of 1941 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and was called to active duty September of 1941 at the Classification Center, Nashville, Tennessee. He was selected as pilot material and sent to Maxwell Field, Alabama in December of 1941 for preflight training. Upon completion of 3 months of training, he was sent to Jackson, Tennessee for primary flight training and then was sent to Marianna, Florida for advanced flight training and then to Eglin Field, Florida for aerial gunnery training. He graduated January 7, 1943 from Marianna Flight Training Center as a pilot and 2nd LT Hall was moved to Richmond and Norfolk, Virginia for operational training. He was then assigned to Heathrow Airport, London, England for combat duty. Then he was transferred to Gibraltar, then to Malta, then to North Africa. At all these stations, he flew combat duty in fighter aircraft. From there he was transferred to Augusta, Sicily. From Sicily he was transferred to Naples, Italy. From Naples, Italy he went to Porpetto, Italy. Then he was transferred to the island of Corsica. At all of these stations, he flew combat missions. After being in the island of Corsica, he was transferred to Pisa, Italy. Then he served 32 days as front line controller with the Fifth Army. Then Hall went TDY to the 12th Air Force Headquarters as a staff pilot flying B-25s. Then he returned to his group as a combat pilot. Then Hall went back to Corsica for the invasion of Southern France. Then he moved to Tantonville, France. He was then moved to Gross-Gerau, Germany where he was stationed when the war ended. He has 14 separate medals from his combat duties. He flew a total of 119 combat missions and was an inactive reserve officer in the USAF. Brother of Lt Jg Jack S.
